The heart.
The heart so desperately wicked, according to the Psalms.
The heart that must be scored by pain and suffering.
So that it becomes soft and pliable.
The heart that Ezekiel talks about:
The heart of stone that becomes a heart of flesh.
That is what God cares about.
That is what He is doing in each of us.
Transforming the heart.

This is such a tough thing for me, too, and I have a feeling we are all in this together. More than once, I wanted to back out of writing about these verses because I know how many times I have failed. But somehow God’s love keeps shining through these tough words when I see how much He wants us to love each other, just as Renae commented. There is no joy like what I have felt when I have put something right with someone else. But it is so hard to do it sometimes, that I guess I’m not hoping to have that joy too often!

This is a tough one, Jeanette!
Regrettably akin to the phosphorus head on the match, when struck the right way, I shall flare up. Recently I’ve realized that it’s not only angry OUTbursts that cause hurt and harm. Angry INbursts can be just as destructive even as a sneeze turned inward can rip a retina from the eye. So just stifling the anger isn’t good enough either! As I said: this is a tough one, Jeanette!

Jeanette, this really spoke to me today. You’re right, we do get it backwards sometimes. I’m reminded of when He said, “This is how the world will know you are my disciples: that you love one another.” Those relationships really are important, aren’t they?
